PlateWatch® Awarded Canadian Patent for Unique Residential License Plate Capture Assemblies
Fenton, Missouri — PlateWatch® announces the award of a second patent granted by The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) for its unique residential License Plate Capture Assemblies. This achievement follows the U.S. Utility Patent granted in November 2022.
PlateWatch® has ushered in a new category for home security, empowering homeowners to capture actionable and identifiable images of license plates and vehicles from decorative mailbox posts, address posts, and sign post assemblies, thereby enhancing the safety of their families, homes, and properties.
PlateWatch® assemblies have the ability to capture images in a wide range of lighting conditions, from bright daylight to challenging nighttime settings, effectively addresses the limitations of consumer-grade video doorbells, video floodlights, and security cameras, particularly as vehicle-related crimes continue to make headlines on social media and news outlets.
Since the installation of the first PlateWatch® prototype in the fall of 2019, the invention has played a crucial role in solving several crimes. These incidents include vehicle larcenies, car thefts, package thefts, vandalism, and more. The system's capacity to provide clear and accurate vehicle and license plate details has proven invaluable to homeowners when reporting neighborhood crimes.
Dwayne Cooney, Inventor and Founder, commented, "PlateWatch provides homeowners with an effective and unobtrusive solution to protect their families, home, and property. This new patent, granted by The Canadian Intellectual Property Office, is a testament to the unique design that has never been available to homeowners in the past."
PlateWatch® functions seamlessly as a License Plate Capture (LPC) device when integrated into home security camera systems. Furthermore, it is fully compatible with a wide array of License Plate Recognition (LPR) software systems and LPR subscription services available to homeowners. This adaptability empowers homeowners to maintain their own license plate database, enabling critical support when a crime is detected or when alerts regarding suspicious vehicles are needed.
Dwayne Cooney further elaborated on the potential of PlateWatch®, stating, "When PlateWatch® License Plate Capture Assemblies are paired with LPR software or a subscription LPR service, homeowners can manage their own watch lists. They can configure third party systems with PlateWatch® to receive alerts related to vehicles of interest, suspicious vehicles, BOLO's (Be on the Lookout), orders of protection, missing persons, Amber Alerts, Silver Alerts, restricted vehicles, service vehicles, delivery vehicles, employees, customers, family, visitors, and more."
